Apr 11, 2019 · I live in Harris county, west of Houston, TX and they are putting fiber in my neighborhood. I was talking to one of the guys running the fiber through the conduit and he mentioned that the copper wiring in our neighborhood was going away in 6 months. I need to know if this is true or false. I would have thought that getting fiber was optional. . X ray technique

My neighborhood consists of about 400 homes. Many of the homes in the back part of the neighborhoods only have the 25mbit service. A neighborhood literally across the street has 1G internet on Fiber. About 2 months ago they completed the install of fiber to the pedestal that services my house and the neighbor behind me. They activated service for the neighbor behind me (different street) but my address is still showing as “unavailable”.The problem with fast 5G+ is you have to place an antenna on a pole every block and feed it with fiber. Every neighborhood nearby in any direction from mine has above ground utilities and got ATT fiber ~4 years ago. I have never heard any news about our neighborhood eventually getting fiber. .
