The "best" embouchure for a jazz or rock musician may not be the same as the "best" embouchure for a musician who plays classical saxophone. But Wally did a damn fine job of putting an excellent video together.However, metal mouthpieces usually have higher baffles than non-metal mouthpieces. So it is common to think that metal is louder and squeaky. But this is not due to the material. Players who like to play on the very tip of a mouthpiece are more prone to chirps. I purchased the V1 and C1 Neck for my Yamaha 62 baritone: both sound rounder, warmer and more colorful than the included neck. The responce and artikulation are more direct and precise. The intonation is the most accurate with the C1 neck, this neck also sounds the warmest and most colorful.
This is my first post on saxontheweb! I hope it is in the right place. I have been playing alto for about 15 years and recently decided to pick up a tenor. I bought this 1966 Conn 16M from the original owner. The story goes that he played it for one year in high school and gave up, and recently rediscovered it in the basement after 43 years.. That is, a 1/8" or 5mm or whatever movement of the mpc, whether in (sharper) or out (flatter) will affect the high tones far more than the bottom end of the horn.
